The Glory Project

A Passion for the Arts Ignites Creative Service Effort

Last summer we learned that a teenager in Bedford, New Hampshire was planning a creative dance project to benefit Big Thought. Emma Benson, who has been involved in theater and the arts for most of her life, decided to spend her summer on what she called “The Glory Project,” an inspiring endeavor to raise money to support creativity and the arts in schools.

Over the summer Emma, who says musical theater is her passion, heard that cuts to arts programs in the local school district were being made.

“I hate when I see schools limiting resources for kids. I feel awful for kids that don’t have the opportunities that I had,” she said.

She decided to do something about it. Emma choreographed a dance to Lady Gaga’s The Edge of Glory and charged community members $5 to learn it from her. Through much hard work and community support, Emma’s project raised $520 to support creative learning!

“You have to give back to something you truly believe in and are passionate about. Remember that even though you might be one voice, you can make a big difference. You can surprise yourself,” said Emma.
