Berry Bears Believers

City:  Arlington
Participants:  91

The Berry Bears Believers from Berry Elementary in Arlington ISD raised $2,615.79 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital during the fall through a Math-a-Thon and other fundraising efforts. Students spent two days baking cookies from scratch and then held a bake sale to support their St. Jude campaign. They also collected donations from family, friends and neighbors and even gave up their birthday and snack money for donations. One student came up with an idea for "five dollar Friday" and asked other Berry students to bring five dollars in on the last Friday of the Math-a-Thon.

“We want to be a part of SLANT to help others in our community. Our school is participating by helping raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital because it helps save lives. It really hurts when you lose someone dear to you because of cancer. We pledge to help St. Jude Hospital and put a smile back on the faces of the children and their families. This hospital has helped kids all over the world and even some of the kids that were students at Berry Elementary. To fight cancer you have to be brave and believe. We want to help the kids always remember this, and to know the Berry Elementary School Berry Bears Believers care about them a lot!” said a sixth grade student.
